Ophthalmology Interest Group (OIG)

About Us

Ophthalmology Interest Group (OIG) was started because we saw a need for greater support in the Schulich community for students interested in Ophthalmology. Our vision is to illuminate the path for medical students into the realm of eye care, cultivating interest and building knowledge. We strive to build a supportive community of students who share a passion for Ophthalmology, fostering a network where members could share resources and develop lasting relationships on and off campus, providing opportunities for aspiring ophthalmologists to engage and build upon the Ophthalmology community in Southwestern Ontario. Through our club, members will gain exclusive insight into the history of eye care and its latest advancements/challenges, engage with stakeholders (clinicians, residents, and researchers), participate in outreach events promoting ocular health, and receive resident application support. The OIG serves as an avenue for opportunities within Ophthalmology, including opportunities to participate in research and community outreach events, communicate with physicians, and observe clinical practice. Whether you just want to get to know more or firmly set on a career in Ophthalmology, the OIG is committed to enriching your medical journey with opportunities to engage with the Ophthalmology community and develop lasting friendships with peers who share the same passion. We are eye-ly excited to see you embark on a truly eye-opening journey into the world of Ophthalmology.
